Did you get your Tesla Model 3 bulletproofed?

July 26, 2019 2 Min read

By the time Tesla announced the Model 3, Armormax had already armored and delivered the popular Model S version from Tesla (see here). As the first company to armor a Tesla we found the engineering and design incredible. At our company, we love Tesla and the technology.

When Tesla launched the Model 3, it promised an economical *all-electric car with over 220 miles of range and a price tag of around $35,000. With now have over two hundred thousand Tesla Model 3s being delivered and on the road, we wanted to blend the best of the most popular electric vehicle on the market with cutting-edge technology in bulletproof protection from Armormax.

Today for around $40,000 (plus the Armormax conversion), customers can get into a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Model 3 with a 240-mile range, a 5.3-second 0-to-60 mph time, and a top speed of 140 mph. Roughly the same size as the BMW i5, the Model 3 offers room for five, although four is a more comfortable fit.

In typical Tesla fashion, the Model 3 is loaded with high-tech innovations, such as a single large display screen with internet capability through which all functions are operated. An available semi-autonomous driving mode upgrade includes a summons feature that lets you call your Model 3 from its parking space via a smartphone.

On the safety and security side, the Model 3 is one of the safest sedans on the market receiving a perfect five-star. From Car and Driver: The Model 3 has been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and received a perfect five-star score; the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety hasn’t released its findings.

Although we question whether the name Autopilot might be misleading, the driver-assist system has one of the best feature sets in the industry, with smooth operation and impressive capabilities such as automatic lane changes.

Key safety features include:

  • Standard automated emergency braking
  • Standard lane-departure warning
  • Standard adaptive cruise control

Armormax takes the original Model 3 (or any vehicle) and armors all the interior parts of the car from the glass, to the doors to the floor; completely protecting all the passengers inside like a cocoon.

On the armoring upgrade, we go through five stages (see here how bulletproof cars are made) to ensure not only is our armoring perfect but the fit and finish of the final build will to our client’s expectations and needs. After the work is completed we have a team that goes through and inspect every aspect of the vehicle using a 250 point checklist to ensure the vehicle is perfect as it leaves our facility.

*Model 3 is fully electric, so you never need to visit a gas station again. If you charge overnight at home, you can wake up to a full battery every morning.
